Within the Expert Mounts ceiling-mount system this plate is the attachment point at the ceiling. The center socket accepts 1.5" NPT threaded pipe; that pipe forms the mast of the assembly and carries a mount head for a flat-panel display or projector. Because the whole system shares the same thread standard, extension pipes and couplers can bring the mast to the required drop length before the head is fitted.
This is the plate to use on flat ceilings. On sloped or cathedral ceilings an angled plate or angled adapter is the correct choice, since it compensates for the pitch and lets the mast hang plumb; strut channel and steel beams take the Unistrut adapter or beam clamp instead. In every case the plate must fasten to structure able to support 4 times the total load of the pipe, hardware, and mounted equipment. Professional installation is recommended for ceiling-mounted products.
